Why ?
Over the last 50 years there has been a dramatic decrease in Catholics, practicing Catholics, sacramental marriages, good holy Catholic families, the ordained (priests+deacons) and the consecrated (The chaste, sisters, nuns, brothers and others).This is not a church wide problem. It is mostly Europe and the Americas with a specific emphasis for the US in the northeast and west.Our whole country is in decline but their are glimmers of hope coming from the midwest and the southeast. And two thing stand out in the progress they have made. An emphasis on being joyful examples of their vocation (No one likes a gloomy priest or parishioner) and Parish Vocation Ministry.
What can we do.
Evangelize and grow the Catholic church to increase the number of candidates for all vocations.
Promote and increase the number of sacramental marriages to increase the number of good holy Catholic families.
Include single parent families.
Teach Catholic families of the beauty of all Catholic vocations including the ordained and consecrated.
This will increase the number of the ordained (priests and deacons) and consecrated (sisters, nuns, brothers and others).
A Parish Vocation Ministry Is ?
A small group of parish vocation ministers supported by existing parish ministries that ;
Prays for an increase in vocations.
Prays for, and supports our priests, deacons and religious.
Prays for and supports married couples and the Chaste.
Raises awareness of the need for Catholic vocations.
Promotes discernment as to what God is calling us to do.
Accompaniment for those in the hunt for their vocation.
Grows the faith of the ministry members and supporters.
